The bone material is treated, decorated and polished before its carved out into the piece above. Varying patterns usually in black and white or brown and ivory.

The choker is made by craftspeople in the Kenyan town of Kisumu and who's work is vital in sustaining the activities of the Teenage Mothers & Girls Association of Kenya.
