Edwina Akello lost both of her parents as a baby, and grew up living with her aunt and seven brothers and sisters. Edwina became sick with severe chest problems whilst at primary school and was not able to complete her primary school exams. Now eighteen, Edwina was introduced to TEMAK just one month ago and finally had the opportunity to continue her education and develop skills.

Edwina currently trains and works at TEMAK making tie-dye and batik. As well as giving her an occupation and the chance to earn, this is a preparation for her entry to the TEMAK tailoring course, which she will undertake next year.

Edwina says she enjoys making the tie-dye and batik, and hopes that once she has completed the tailoring course she will be able to specialize in this, and one day open a business in Kisumu using these skills.
