One of TEMAK's fundamental objectives is to assist those who are HIV positive and those who are affected by AIDS. TEMAK does so through the following programs:
  • On-site primary school for AIDS orphans

  • School tuition for older AIDS orphans

  • Financial support for child-headed households

  • Home-based care for HIV & AIDS patients

  • HIV Positive Girls Programs which include: -

  • Subsidized medication

  • Income-generating projects

  • Assisted vocational training

  • Referrals for AIDS testing

  • Support for terminally ill.

TEMAK being an organization that is involved with the rescue and rehabilitation of young women and girls is concerned that over 58% of infections of HIV in Africa occur in women. This is mainly because: -

-- The illiteracy level of the women of Africa is notably high, hence their dependence on men puts them at an awkward position of give in to casual sex in exchange for basic needs and money.

-- The wide surface area of the vagina is made up of soft tissues which easily get bruised during sexual intercourse.

-- African culture dictates that a woman should be submissive, hence making the woman lack the power and skills to negotiate for safer sex.

-- The semen contains higher HIV concentration compared to the vaginal fluids.
