TEMAK's Community Health Care Program treats, informs, and counsels people living with HIV. The emerging and re-emerging skin infections which are common amongst many people living with HIV are treated including opportunistic infections and wounds. The program also provides medication for the young women and orphan children within the TEMAK rehabilitation centre. The program has served over 26,000 clients in the last two years. 120 trained volunteer community health workers organize, plan and treat the community in mobile clinics which are undertaken twice a month.
The staff at TEMAK are invited to churches, schools, and public functions to speak about the predicaments of the girl child and to sensitize people on how to be useful and helpful to the girl child. Trainings on child rights, parenting, reproductive health, nutrition, and child care are carried out.
Young mothers and girls reach out to their peers and the community through drama, poems, and songs during public gatherings, social places, churches, organized youth meetings, and workshops. This strategy has seen young people taught and informed on various issues of common interest to them. Relationships are formed to encourage good reproductive health.
