Katolo Community
Centre HIV/AIDS has taken its toll on the village of Katolo and its environs. High death rate has almost wiped out the middle aged generation, leaving many orphans in the hands of very old caregivers. In 2003, World Youth International, Australia, joined forces with TEMAK in putting up a structure that would form the foundation for the Katolo Community Centre. The community centre is training boys and girls in carpentry, masonry, dressmaking, hairdressing, craft, electronics, motor vehicle mechanics and entrepreneurship. The ultimate objective is to strengthen the centre so that it may contribute more effectively at village level at reducing the effects of the scourge of HIV/AIDS on orphans and caregivers. Micro and small enterprises will be encouraged, and supported, as part of income generation strategy. |
