dressmaking
In a room made of iron sheets with 4 sowing machines and capable of handling 15 students are the School drop outs mostly orphans and young mothers learning the trade of dressmaking and Tailoring OBJECTIVES 1) To train and equip youths and young mothers in Dressmaking and tailoring 2) To solicit for tenders in close by school and the community as an income generating project 3) To display and sell second hand cloths and materials to the community for income Over the last 3 years, 102 students have been trained in this useful skill many of whom are now capable of supporting their own families and siblings either through self employment or employed in the informal sector. Indeed poverty has been alleviated in this homes and the little children able to feed. Thanks to the training. Lot’s of emphasis is put on the students learning marketing and quality control techniques. The center has also been able to sow uniforms for 135 orphaned children in the two Schools of Kanyangoro and Nyachoda. However, the unit is expected to sustain itself and has been in the years selling cloths, bags, materials and other items to the community and receiving orders for cloths for sustainability. |
