WORTH WAITING:

My name is Millicent Achieng. This is my story. It is painful in my heart and I am sorry to shed tears when telling my story “says Milly with tears rolling down her cheeks”.

I was born out of wedlock. My mother conceived me at the age of 14 years old. At the age of seven, I was due to go to school, but no one saw the value of taking me to school. My mother had no choice but to give me out as a maid (house help). For 5 years, it was not easy, but I had to persevere to get income and send to my mother to take care of 2 other siblings. Then one day came . This is the day the Lord had made. I rejoiced and danced with Him. A team from TEMAK visited the family I was working for. They explained what they do and asked my mistress if she could allow me to go to TEMAK to learn skills as well as literacy. They offered this free to me. I joined TEMAK and my life totally changed. This was a turning point, I received Christ as my personal savior, I learned to read and write, I gained skills in tailoring and dressmaking. I learnt to wait upon the Lord in everything. I finished my training in the year 2004, I wedded in December 4th 2005, where I was given a lot of support by TEMAK. I am now happy and using my skill to earn income. God bless TEMAK
